Senior Administrative Managers

About SAM

The Senior Administrative Manager (SAM) group at UCR is an organization of senior administrative officers representing all units on campus who gather information about, provide input to, and comment upon policies and practices affecting the operation of their units.

The SAM group provides input to and is supported by, Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost (EVCP). Specific objectives of SAM include providing a forum for discussion of common concerns, studying administrative problems and acting as a broad-based resource group for the campus administration. Additionally, SAM has an informal program that pairs new or recently transferred senior staff employees with a current UCR senior staff volunteer to help the employee become more familiar with UCR's organizational culture and resources.

SAM meetings and activities are coordinated by an Executive Board who is elected by the membership to serve two year terms. There are no dues or member fees to join SAM. All that is asked is that members agree to attend as many of SAM General Meetings as possible and provide appropriate input and assistance to the group. There are normally 2-3 SAM General Meetings each academic year which are usually scheduled from 11:30am - 1:00pm held at an on-campus location.
